Joan Bailey: Add water, more water...soaking
wet....now the first colour. Fluid, bright, intense, beautiful
ink....spreading in the water and running to the edges of the
canvas....staining the tops of the peaks and chasing thru the
valleys of the texture. Add more ink, a different shade, mixing two
colours to become three and four, five. Blends of brilliant liquid
hue floating across the surface, falling into cracks and settling in
formations. Flick another colour in. A few specks of gold, sweet
liquid gold. Lay down some plastic and the watery inks are captured
into spines. Add some leaves, grass, more texture and shapes. Splash
more ink near a leaf and it spreads and clings to the shape. That
will be a sharp, sassy line when its dry! Spray some water droplets,
drop more ink, more water, more ink, more ink, .....that's why I
paint.
