On the walls are Ellen’s
shadow boxes that contain small items that she collected over a long
period of time. Some of them are mementoes, or souvenirs and some
are simply interesting in colour or form. I have collected these
items from many parts of the world including Finland, China, France,
Italy, Spain and Baffin Island. They have come from markets, shops,
junk drawers, and some I have found on the ground and in abandoned
farm houses. Some have been given to me by friends.
The minutiae of our lives tell the stories of our lives. I have kept
these bits and pieces because they are invested with memories of
friends, family, places, travels and events.
