Artistic Statement
| I have always been an artist, painting and drawing since the age of ten, when I inherited my great grandfather's paints and brushes. After many years dedicated to being a working single parent, I now have the time to pursue and market my paintings on a more regular basis. My work is very diversified as I explore new mediums and subjects to paint. I began using my great grandfather's oils and migrated to ink and pencil, and now water colors and acrylic mediums. My work has shifted from very realistic to a much looser abstract style. Quite often I am inspired by the images I see in my dreams, which are sometimes very colorful and abstract. Other times I am more inclined to paint landscapes or whatever else inspires me. I am constantly attracted to nature and even the smallest aspect draws my attention. I have completed many commissioned pieces for people and organizations. My work is owned in many private and corporate collections in Canada, Australia, and Scotland. I have been a member of Arts and Culture Council of Strathcona (ACCSC) since 2005, and also a member of the Lamont County Artists since 2006. I also make a yearly art contribution to the Rainbow Wish Foundation for sick and dying children. |
